About Us
Music on the Westside is a thriving, community-driven music studio in Rio Rancho, NM with over 10 years in business and a 5-star Google rating. We offer private and group lessons in guitar, drums, piano, voice, violin, and more — for all ages and skill levels. We're expanding our early childhood music programming and looking for a passionate teacher to be part of it.
The Role
We're looking for a warm, energetic Part-Time Preschool Music Teacher to teach beginner piano and foundational music concepts to children ages 3–6. You'll meet young learners right where they are — building a love of music through age-appropriate, hands-on lessons that are as fun as they are educational. Classes will be held at our Rio Rancho studio location and potentially at local preschool partner locations in the area.
What You'll Do
- Teach beginner piano and basic music concepts to children ages 3–6 at our studio and potentially at preschool partner locations in Rio Rancho
- Build foundational skills in rhythm, pitch, note recognition, and keyboard familiarity through engaging, age-appropriate instruction
- Create a safe, nurturing, and encouraging environment where young children feel confident exploring music
- Adapt your teaching approach to the developmental needs and short attention spans of young learners
- Communicate warmly and regularly with parents and preschool staff
- Participate in student performances and studio events as needed
What We're Looking For
- Experience teaching or working with children ages 3–6 (music, classroom, or childcare setting)
- Piano proficiency and comfort teaching complete beginners
- Ability to connect with, engage, and manage young children
- Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic — this age group genuinely lights you up
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Comfortable traveling to local preschool partner locations in the Rio Rancho area
- Must pass a background check prior to hire
Bonus if You Have:
- A degree or coursework in early childhood education, music education, or a related field
- Experience with early childhood music curriculum
- Experience working with preschools or childcare centers
